

Bloomington – Estus J. Wampler, 79, of Bloomington, passed away at Bloomington Hospital Hospice House on Tuesday, January 15. He was born in Bloomington, Indiana, on December 23, 1933, to John E. and Bessie (Chandler) Wampler. During his career he worked for the Herald Telephone, CourierTribune, Peck and Cleo. He attended Little Union Baptist Church and Eastview Church of the Nazarene.
Mr. Wampler is survived by his wife of 59 years, Edna L. (Conley) Wampler, whom he married on January 8, 1954. He had one son, Victor (Janice) Wampler of Bloomington, Indiana; daughter, Valerie (Tony) VanHorn of Ellettsville, Indiana; grandchildren Misty M. (Jeremy) Cormier, Anthony (Sarah) VanHorn, Brian Harmon of Wilmington, North Carolina, and Timothy (Amber) Harmon of Unionville, Indiana and eight great grandchildren. Brothers Paul F. (Denise) Wampler of Poland, Indiana and James Wampler of Bloomington, Indiana; sisters Olive Lake of Stinesville, Indiana, Betty (Jay) Ely of Bloomington, IN, Martha (Ed) Minnick of Houston, Texas and Janet (Cliff) Sadler of Sealy, TX.
He is preceded in death by his parents, brother John E. Wampler, sister Gladys Boshears and granddaughter, Michelle Stewart.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 17, 2013 from 4-8 p.m. at Day Funeral Home, 4150 E. Third St., Bloomington, IN 47401. The funeral service will be held on Friday, January 18, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. also in the funeral home. Burial will be in Mt. Gilead Cemetery.
