Florence Eileen Nebergall

Florence Eileen Johnson Nebergall, age 95, of Bloomington, died Monday morning at I.U. Health; Bloomington Hospital. Born April 10, 1916 in Cambridge, Illinois, she was the daughter of the late Lawrence F. and Daisy (Reed) Johnson. She was a graduate of Western Illinois State University and taught school in Cambridge, Illinois for four years. She was married August 18, 1940 in Cambridge, IL to William Nebergall, Sr. who later was the developer of Crest toothpaste.

Florence was a member of St. Mark’s United Methodist Church. She was active in the United Methodist Women, XYZ – Ladies Solitaries and served on several commissions. She served on the board of Psi Iota Xi Sorority, the Bloomington Garden Club, University Women’s Club, Hilltop Educational Foundation, Meals on Wheels, Family Service Council, the Christian Center Board, and she was a member of the Monroe County United Ministries. She will be deeply missed by her family and friends.

Florence is survived by her daughter, Susan (Mike) Forney of Bloomington, IN; her two sons, William Nebergall, Jr. of Bloomington, IN and James (Judy) Nebergall of Greenwood, IN; sister, Evelyn Kicksey of Colona, IL; four grandchildren, Jim Nebergall of Columbus, IN, Emily Maurek of Valparaiso, IN, Sara Wininger of Naples, FL, and Alex Forney of Bloomington, IN; two great grandchildren, Trey Nebergall and Max Maurek; five step- grandchildren, Hope Arlington, Jill Meister, Beth Barnhart, Matt Habbe, and Jared Forney; and many other beloved family members.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband and a brother, Kenneth R. Johnson.

Funeral services to celebrate her life will be held at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, October 13, 2011 at Day Funeral Home, officiated by the Reverend Mary Beth Morgan. Entombment will follow at Valhalla Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, October 12, 2011 at Day Funeral Home.
