March 18, 1958 – April 10, 2013
Bloomington, IN, formerly of Muncie, IN
Janice E. (Scott) Jobe, gifted artist, birthday-cake virtuoso, animal-lover, and devoted mother, made her peaceful transition on Wednesday, April 10, 2013.
Jan was the baby of her parents Jack and Margaret Scott (both deceased) and the ‘rotten’ younger sister of brother, Jerry Scott of Peoria, and sister, Chris Clark of Cambridge City. She is the mother of two girls, Andrea and Lauren Jobe of Bloomington, who will fondly remember the time spent harvesting homegrown tomatoes and how she could fix anything with gizmos from the junk-drawer. She is also survived by her two furry grand-‘babies’, Malibu the dog and Princess Sophie the cat, who will dearly miss the sweet lovin’ that only a grandmother can give.
Growing up, Jan was either riding her horses around the yard - saddleback by day, bareback (with rum in hand) by night - or creating picturesque sketches of them. One drawing in particular has wowed everyone who has viewed it and has become her most sought after piece. She had a love for design and photography, which her oldest, Andrea, inherited. She graduated from Ball State University with a Bachelors of Fine Arts in Visual Communications and was a repeat offender on the Dean’s List, a characteristic she shares with her youngest, Lauren.
Her family will travel at a later date to Lake Manistee, MI to hold a private memorial service. They chose Michigan because of the many happy summers Jan spent there in her younger years - swimming, running, playing, like the free bird that she was.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you make memorial donations, whether time or money, to the charity/organization of your choice, to the Multiple Sclerosis Association of America (www.mymsaa.org), or to The Rooftop Garden at Middle Way House (www.middlewayhouse.org) in Bloomington – an organization that her daughters are passionate about.
Online condolences may be made to the family at www.DayFuneralServices.com. The family would love to hear about the way you chose to honor Jan or any memories you may have of her.
