

John W. Day, age 84, of Bloomington, died Sunday evening at I.U. Health, Bloomington Hospital after long suffering from A.L.S. (Lou Gehrig’s Disease). Born May 11, 1927 in Bloomington, he was the son Clyde T. and Margaret (Coffey) Day. He worked ten years for Johnson Creamery and retired from R.C.A. after thirty-two years of service where he was a production scheduler. He loved all sports and especially loved to play golf and bowl. He loved to watch I.U. Basketball and Football. He was a member of the Church of Christ and a life member of the Bloomington Moose and Eagles Lodges.
He is survived by his wife, Ida Janet (Bingham) Day, of Bloomington; one daughter and son-in-law, Sherrie and Lew Grable, of Columbus; one son, John Michael “Mike” Day, of Bloomington; five grandchildren, Tony (Kim) Schuette, Tim (Betsy) Schuette, both of Columbus; Melissa (John) Smith, of California, Michael Day, of Portland, Oregon, and Charissa Day, of Bloomington; seven great-grandchildren, Aushni, Sabel, Sierra, Shanel, Tarrel, “Boot” and Jackson. He was a great-nephew to Arthur Day, founder of Day Funeral Home. His parents preceded in him in death.
Funeral services and visitation will be private. Entombment will be in the Valhalla Mausoleum.
