With great sadness, the family of John S. Gray announces his death on August 23, 2019. John was born on August 30, 1935 in Lawrenceville, Illinois; and spent his childhood in Vincennes, Indiana, where he graduated from Vincennes High School. John graduated from Indiana University with a degree in finance and he was a member of ROTC and the Kappa Sigma fraternity.
John lived in Jasper, Indiana, for 35 years and worked at Wabash Valley Produce. He was a Lt. Col in the Indiana Air National Guard. Upon retirement, John and his wife relocated to Bloomington, Indiana, where he was a member of First United Methodist Church. John was a man of deep faith, an ardent sports fan, an avid reader, and an American history enthusiast.
John is survived by his wife of 55 years, Nancy (Seal); his two children, Elizabeth and Bryan; and two grandchildren, Mark and Marie.
Memorial services to celebrate his life will be held at 3:00 p.m., Friday, August 30, 2019 at Day & Deremiah-Frye Funeral Home. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at Day & Deremiah-Frye Funeral Home, 4150 East Third Street in Bloomington. A reception will follow after the memorial service in the Day & Deremiah-Frye Funeral Home Catering Reception Center. Private inurnment will be held at Memorial Park Cemetery in Vincennes, IN. Memorial contributions may be made to First United Methodist Church, Bloomington, IN.
