Kathleen Williams Van der Schans

Kathleen Williams Van der Schans passed away on June 28, 2018, in Bloomington, IN, at the age of 52. Kathy is survived by her parents, Donald and Joanne Williams of Bloomington, IN; husband, Raymond Van der Schans of Bloomington, IN; children, Mackenzie and William Van der Schans of Bloomington, IN; siblings, brothers Rick Williams (wife Karen, children Michaela Williams Miller, Scott Williams, Caitlin Williams, Ryan Williams) of Thompson's Station, TN; Michael Williams (wife Mary, children Meagan Williams and Erinn Williams Conard) of Bloomington, IN; Larry Williams (wife Missy, children Anthony Williams and Mackenzie Williams) of Bloomington, IN, Ken Williams (wife Shari, children Colin Williams and Griffin Williams) of Eden Prairie, MN; and sister Judy Williams (husband Phil Hill), of Bloomington, IN. Kathy was born on January 1, 1966, in Troy, Ohio. She graduated from Bloomington High School North in 1984, Indiana University with a Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education in 1989, and Indiana Wesleyan University with a Master of Education Degree in 1994. Kathy taught at Marlin Elementary from 1989 to 1990, Grandview Elementary from 1990 to 2005, Fairview Elementary from 2005 to 2014, and Childs Elementary from 2014 to 2018. Kathy was truly exceptional in her ability to connect and communicate with kids. She was a genuine and authentic person who never wanted to miss out on anything. She also made everyone's special occasions into heartfelt celebrations. She laughed, smiled, and could tell a story like no one else! Kathy's dream in life was to be a mother and Mackenzie and Will fulfilled that dream. They made every day special for Kathy. A visitation is scheduled on Monday, July 2, 2018 from 4:00 pm - 8:00 pm at Day & Deremiah-Frye Funeral Home, 4150 E Third St. Bloomington, Indiana 47401. A Mass of Christian Burial is scheduled for Tuesday, July 3, 2018 at 11:00 am at St Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, 2222 E Third St., Bloomington, Indiana.
