Kathryn Collier Miller

Kathryn C. Miller, 82, of Bloomington, IN passed away on Sunday, March 17, 2013. She was born December 29, 1930 in Warren, Ohio the daughter of the late Frederick Theodore Collier and Lillian Alice McKibben Collier.

Kathryn was Valedictorian of her graduating class at Champion High School in 1948. She attended Hiram College. In January of 1981 she moved to Bloomington, Indiana. She married Dan W. Miller on May 12, 1985.

Kathryn was an active member of First Presbyterian Church. While in Warren, OH, she worked in various optometry and ophthalmology practices as an office manager. She retired from The Eye Center of Southern Indiana in Bloomington in 1999 where she worked as a certified retinal angiographer, and special projects manager. She was active as a CPR instructor for the American Red Cross, a Girl Scout Leader, and she was active in community theater both in Ohio and Indiana. Although her main interest was costuming, she also had acting roles in several productions. She enjoyed photography, traveling, theater, shopping, reading, cooking, needle work, knitting, games of all kinds, and above all spending time with family and friends. She will be deeply missed.

Kathryn is survived by her husband, Dan W. Miller; her four children, Linda (David) O’Rell, Karen (Jim) McMorran, Tara McKibben, and Jay (Kris) Johnson; her two step-children, Deborah (Gerald) Miller and Doug Miller; a sister, Carol Collier Gordon; ten grandchildren, Jennifer McClellan, Elaine O’Rell, Rhonda Ellks, Beth Salesky, Andrea McMorran, David Andrew McKibben, Phillip Johnson, Leslie Johnson, Devon Miller – Gowan, and Darien Miller – Gowan; six great grandchildren, Caitlin, Ryan and Laura McClellan, Mark and Paige Ellks, and Liam Salesky; and other beloved family members.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Helen Cunningham and a great granddaughter, Joy Marie Salesky.

Memorial services to celebrate her life will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, March 21, 2013 at First Presbyterian Church, officiated by the Reverends, Andrew Kort and Rachel Pedersen. Following the memorial services there will be a reception at the church.

A second memorial celebration will be held at Champion Christian Church in Warren, OH on Monday, March 25, 2013 at 11:00 a.m., immediately followed by a reception. The Rev. Ken Hopkins will officiate.
