It is with great sadness that we announce that our founder and leader, Ken Nunn, passed away on the morning of December 24th. He is survived by his daughter, Vicky Nunn; his son, David Nunn; and his two grandchildren – Katie Nunn and Jimmy Nunn.
Vicky Nunn, who was inspired to become an attorney by Ken and has been part of Ken Nunn Law Office since 2001, will be taking over the leadership of the law office.
Ken was from humble beginnings – growing up in a single-parent home in the poorest section of Jeffersonville, Indiana. With that background, the odds were against Ken. With the guidance and support of his then-girlfriend Leah, (who later became his wife of 60+ years), Ken was able to graduate from high school, achieve a business degree from Indiana University, and receive his law degree from IU School of Law in 1967.
Ken began his law practice in Bloomington in 1967, starting with a card table and folding chairs in his first office. From that meager beginning, Ken was determined to build a successful law practice based on his desire to persevere and held a firm belief to always fight for his clients – regardless of the odds. Ken’s favorite movie was “To Kill A Mockingbird” and the story of that movie fueled the fire to always fight for his clients.
Ken rapidly grew his practice over the years and built the largest personal injury practice based in the state of Indiana. Ken’s office in Bloomington, Indiana is one of the most recognizable buildings in the area and his firm has nearly 90 employees, which includes a total of 12 lawyers. The Ken Nunn Law Office is a state-wide practice and serves every county in Indiana.
Ken will be remembered as a pioneer in the modern-day practice of representing injured people. Ken will be remembered for his love for Indiana University and for IU basketball. Ken will be remembered for the many charities he supported. More importantly, Ken will be remembered for the legacy that he has created and for the good he has contributed to his family, his employees, and for the tens of thousands that he and his law firm have helped for over 50 years.
The office is closed for the holidays and will re-open on Monday, December 29th. It was Ken’s desire that the work of his law firm continue. As such, Ken Nunn Law Office will continue to fight for its clients and for anyone who suffers injury in the state of Indiana.
