She was born in Bloomington to Edward Kent and Hazel Beaman Kent on October 1, 1937.
Lavonna worked at Indiana University in the Halls Residence as a head cook, retiring with 25 years of faithful service.
She is survived by her daughters, Teresa Young of Bloomington and Tammy(husband John) Stewart of Kokomo; her grandchildren, Raymond (wife Dana Beth) Evans, J. R. Evans all of Bloomington, Ben(wife Michelle)Young and Micah Young(husband George Hellman) both of Huntsville, AL, J. T. Stewart(partner Amanda Kelly), Rebecca(husband Keegan)Stewart-Gifford and William Stewart all of Bloomington.
She is also survived by her brother Vernon(wife Betty)Kent of Biloxi, MS and two sisters-in-law Rosalie Kent of Fredericksburg, TX and Virginia Ann Kent of Bloomington, six great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Lavonna was a member of Genesis Church and her Tuesday Life Group and Thursday morning bible study. She will be remembered for her mentoring many people in the community and her joyous, loving heart that she gave freely to others as well as her beautiful sense of humor.
Visitation will be held on Friday, July 5, 2019 from 4-8 p.m. in Day & Deremiah-Frye Funeral Home, 4150 E. Third St., Bloomington, Indiana 47401. The Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, July 6, 2019 at 1 p.m. in Genesis Church with Pastor David Woodcock officiating, 810 Matlock Rd., IN 45/46 Bypass, Bloomington, Indiana with visitation from 12 noon until time of service at 1 p.m. Burial will be in Valhalla Memory Gardens.
