

Sue was born on September 22, 1939 to Homer Sample and Mary (Cupie) Young.
Sue retired from Kroger, having met many good friends there.
Sue loved to travel with the love of her life Bob and they traveled the world together living their lives to the fullest.
Sue loved going to the casino’s, playing Bingo and cards with her good friends and sister in law Mary Lynn and Judy Sample. Sue also loved to race cars back in the day having had a great life.
Survivors include her sons: Robert (Bobby) Purtlebaugh I and James (JIM) Purtlebaugh (Joyce): Grandchildren: Robert (Bobby) Purtlebaugh, II (Mia), Angela Gladson (Johnathon), Jimmy Purtlebaugh (Heather), and Jenny Purtlebaugh (Dennis). 13 Great-Grandchildren and 7 great-great grandchildren,
her sister Leatha Hillenberg (Steve), two brothers; Bill Sample (Tana) and Marc Sample (Bonnie), caregivers Tammy Sipes and great-granddaughter, Leanna Gladson. Also many nieces and nephews, that she loved very much, and friends who were like family.
Sue was preceded in death by her loving husband George (Bob) Purtlebaugh, her parents, brother Joe, sister, Janie, and niece, Janel.
Visitation for Sue will be held on September 19th, 2024 from 4:00pm to 8:00pm in Day and Deremiah-Frye Funeral Home located at 4150 East Third Street Bloomington, In 47401.
Graveside services will be held at Payne Cemetery on Friday September 20th, 2024 at 12 noon.
