Marshall Wilson Underwood Jr., 84, of Bloomington, Indiana, passed away on April 29, 2026. Born March 30, 1942, in Bloomington, Indiana, Marshall was the son of Marshall Underwood, Sr. and Lenora (Ham) Underwood.
A proud United States Marine Corps veteran, Marshall served two tours in Vietnam. His life reflected steady dedication and resolve—meeting duty with the kind of perseverance that does not seek recognition, yet leaves a lasting mark. Those who knew him understood the strength of a man who kept going, who showed up, and who stood firmly by what mattered.
Beyond his service, Marshall found deep enjoyment in horses, loving everything about them—from showing to the daily care they require. He carried that same steadfast commitment into the routines and responsibilities of horsemanship, where patience and work are rewarded quietly over time. He also shared years of riding with his brother, Ollie, a bond shaped by loyalty and the simple, enduring pleasure of time spent together.
Marshall will be remembered with respect and gratitude—for his service, for the constancy of his presence, and for the resilient spirit that defined his days.
Services for Marshall will be Monday, May 4th with visitation starting at 11:00AM with the Funeral service starting at 12:00PM at the Chapel in Day & Deremiah-Frye Funeral home located at 4150 E Third St Bloomington, IN 4740.
Marshall will be laid to rest in Valhalla Memory Gardens
