

Mary Evelyn Terry Ice, better known by family members as “Daughter” was born in Bloomington, Indiana on December 11, 1925. She attended Bloomington Public Schools, Crispus Attucks High school in Indianapolis and graduated from Bloomington High School. She married Lawrence E. Ice and was a devoted mother to her four children; Reatha Ann Ice Lockhart, Kenneth Ice, Terry Lynn Ice and Keith Ice (Marilyn).
She was an active long time member of Second Baptist Church and served in the kitchen on the usher board and the progressive club. She was a member of the Jolly Batchelor Girls Club, the Eastern Star and Daughter Elks auxiliary and several bowling leagues.
She worked the election polls until age 77 and served as the first black employee of the city of Bloomington as a police force parking meter technician until her retirement after 27 years.
She was preceded in death by her husband Lawrence, her son Kenneth and grandson Matthew. She leaves to mourn her 3 children, 12 grand children, 17 great grandchildren, 2 great-great grandchildren, 2 sisters-in law, Laverta Terry and Mary Terry and many nieces, nephews and friends.
Day Funeral Home in Bloomington is in charge of arrangements. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 8:00 P.M. Friday at Day Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be Saturday at 1:00 P.M. at the Second Baptist Church in Bloomington with Pastor Bruce Rose officiating. Burial will follow in Valhalla Memory Gardens.
