I was deeply saddened to hear about the loss of your wife, Michele. Please know that my thoughts and prayers are with you and your family during this difficult time.

As a volunteer with the AASLD Foundation, I am committed to supporting their mission of advancing liver research and training. This cause is especially meaningful to me as a caregiver, and I understand firsthand how critical these advancements are.

The generous gifts made in Michele's memory are instrumental in funding research and training programs that could lead to new treatments, better care, and a future free of liver disease. This year alone, the AASLD Foundation has invested $2.6 million in these vital efforts, thanks to the generosity of donors.  Donations made in Michele’s memory have been received from Gregory Jr. Madouros, Dr. Richard Luedemann, PhD, Priscilla Cunningham, and 3 anonymous donors.

Dear Matt and family 
I was so sorry to hear of Michele’s passing. Her smile was so infectious and warm, as I passed her desk each morning at work she always had a greeting. Her love for life and family was an example for all of those who had the privilege of knowing her. My thoughts and prayers are with you.

When we first visited Bloomington in February 2020 to see if moving here was a good fit for our family, we toured the school and daycare. Mrs. Graf showed us the daycare and we were sold on the loving atmosphere. Later in the day, while walking through the parking lot of CVS, a voice called out to us, "Hello Levis Family!" It was Mrs. Graf, and little did she know, that one small gesture of friendliness was just one more sign that Bloomington was the next home for our family. She made a foreign place feel like a caring community. During our years at the daycare/preschool, Mrs. Graf was also always empathic with our daughter, especially when Melanie was having a rough day.  We are grateful for Mrs. Graf in our lives. We are very sorry to hear of Michele’s passing. I only got to meet her a few times as Matt was my husband’s RCIA sponsor a few years ago. I was able to sit next to her at that Easter Vigil. Michele was very welcoming (I was not coming from a Catholic background) that day I remember as it was a bit overwhelming. I could tell she showed a true love for God and also was passionate about the Mass. Just last year I also went through RCIA and was confirmed in the Catholic Church. Very thankful for Michele as she contributed to letting her husband take the time to be a sponsor for my husband and also very welcoming to the church. We wouldn’t be where we are today without her contributions. Much love for her and her family.

Among the greatest, Mrs. Graf left an indelible mark on our lives. For two and a half years, her warm smile greeted us every morning as we dropped off our son, Miguel, at St. Charles. She not only shaped the foundation of his education but also touched his heart with love and care.

i am a student here at st. charles. my sibling had mrs graf, and she was one of the kindest and most loving human being. it’s still hard to think that she’s gone, since every time she would speak or smile, it would light up the whole room. my most deepest condolences for the graf family. she is most definitely in a better place now, and we will all continue to miss her.

I am sorry to hear of Michele's passing. My prayers are with you during this time. 

We were lucky enough to be able to enroll our son in St. Charles daycare when Michele was director, and keep him there from infancy through preschool.  I always knew he was well looked after, learning, having a great time, and, above all, loved. After a brief stint in public school kindergarten, he's been back at St. Charles ever since for that very reason. The love. It's not something to be taken for granted because it isn't something every institution of early childhood education has in spades, like St. Charles does. Michele was a huge part of that, with a genuine affection for her kiddos, and she was a big part of Jack's early life. 

I remember there was a brief lockdown during drop-off one morning because a nearby neighborhood had a police action of some kind. I had just rung the doorbell to preschool when she got word, and she dragged me inside with my son for safety. Then she went outside and stood on the sidewalk like the brave Mama Bear she was, redirecting parents who hadn't yet dropped their children and guarding us with her life. 

Michele was special. I can't thank you all enough for sharing her with us. We feel so very lucky. May you find comfort in her memory, and in knowing how much her life touched others. 

Mom and I are so sad to learn of Michele's death.     Mom recalls Michele and Matt so fondly from her days at Cook.     We've made a donation to AASLD in honor of Michele.      We hope memories of Michele will be a blessing to Matt and the kids and her mother for all their days.     Priscilla and Wes Cunningham.   

The world certainly needs more people like Mrs Graf.  While attending St Charles, she truly loved my two grandchildren, McCoy and Kyle.  My condolences to her family.

To say Michele was a blessing is an understatement. She was the kind of person that leaves a permanent positive imprint on your heart. For years, every day I would look forward to seeing her radiant smile at the school door and loved to hear about the funny and cherished moments she experienced with my kids each day. 
She was the kind of person that every parent prays for when you leave your precious babies in the care of another– the kind of person that leaves you and your baby better than you were before with every interaction. I got to see her strong faith in God inspire my kids to be better humans; to be kind, to stand up for what was right, and to love without limits. 
With endless encouragement and a welcoming heart, she was a fierce advocate for all her kids. She never gave up on them and could see their potential through the rowdy days. She was a soft place to land for so many when times were tough. She knew all things could be solved with a little TLC. Kid or not she helped us all in so many ways to be better. 
Although the grief is heavy now, I will treasure and give thanks every time her loving legacy shows itself in the actions of my children -faith, kindness, the power of a smile and an encouraging word


We are deeply sorrowed to learn of Michele's passing.   Our deepest condolences to Matt and family.  May she know the joy of eternal life and prayers for peace for this wonderful, giving family at this sad time.

There are no words!! A beautiful soul gone too soon. Michele was one of a kind - beautiful inside and out and fierce. I loved her and feared her (in the best way).
