Milton C. Minor, Jr., age 81, of Bloomington passed away Tuesday, January 5, 2021 at the Owen Valley Health Campus in Spencer. He was born and grew up in Danville, Kentucky. He was the son of Milton Carlisle “Judge” Minor, Sr. and Mary Louise “Tweedie” (Durham) Minor. Milton received a B.A. degree in Math, Chemistry and Physics from the University of Kentucky. He became a Math and Science instructor at Danville, High School from 1963-1965 and 1966 to 1967. He went on to receive his M.S. degree in Instructional Media (Production) from Indiana University in 1967. Milton married Marilyn Arnold Harris in 1967. They raised her son, Todd Harris (now Christiansen) and they had two daughters, Gina Minor Joly and Melissa Bosstick. Melissa married Shane Bosstick and they have four children; Brynn, Lauren, Sabrina and Kaiden. Todd and Renee have one son, Kaleb Rich-Harris. Milt was a Media Specialist at Kentucky Educational Television from 1968-1969 and then received his PhD degree as an Educational Specialist from Indiana University in 1975. In addition to his wife and children, Milt is survived by a brother, Marion (Frieda) Minor and a sister, Marilyn Minor Johnson. Milt was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Mona Minor Thompson. He was an IST (Audio-visual) Tenured Professor at Tennessee Tech for 9 years and after moving to Bloomington in 1978 he became a computer programmer at Data Domain, then Bloomington Business Machines for approximately 25 years and finally at Ranac in Noblesville, Indiana from 2003 to 2007. Milt was a choir member at St. Paul United Methodist Church until 2013, in Hoosier Tonecutters and “The Daring Blenders” Quartet, then a member of First United Methodist Church. Other memberships included the Bloomington West Lions Club and KAFE (KY Alternative Fuel Energy) group. While at the University of Kentucky, he was a K-man for swimming and diving. He won the Little Kentucky Derby (bike race) for his fraternity, Pi Kappa Alpha in 1963. Milt was one of Bill Gate’s ‘sweet 16”. In the late 1980’s Bill Gates assembled 16 computer experts. Periodically they would get together at a location near one of them to share ideas and learn what was prevalent in their part of the United States. Milt enjoyed remodeling his and Marilyn’s home and teaching the children and grandchildren how to play the piano, swim and the joy of a job well done. He was a very talented and generous person who will be lovingly missed by all.
