Paul Gabriel Johnston

Paul Gabriel Johnston, age 92, of Bloomington, Indiana passed away Thursday, October 2,2025 at the I.U. Health Hospice House. Born July 22,1933 in Washington, D.C., he was the son of Charles and Mildred (Thenn) Johnston. Paul was a U.S. Air Force veteran of the Korean War. He then worked for Pepsi-Cola in Bloomington for 40 years where he was primarily a vendor repairman. He loved fishing, coin and stamp collecting, gardening and feeding the many birds and other animals that frequented his yard. He was a member of the Stoneridge Baptist Church in Bloomington.

Paul is survived by his loving wife of 70 years, Shirley (Collier) Johnston, his son, Brad Johnston, his daughter Cindy (James) Patton, all of Bloomington; one sister, Constance Elizabeth “Liz” May, of Linton, Indiana; three grandchildren, Heather (Mike) Good, Autumn Shelton and Charity (Jason) Sanders and three great-grandchildren, Justice Shelton, Aaron Sanders, and Jonas Sanders.

Paul was preceded in death by his parents, one grandson, Jimmy Patton and one sister, Rosemary Hedrick.

A Celebration of Life Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday at 1:00 p.m. at the Stoneridge Baptist Church with Pastor Andy Gaschke officiating. Entombment will follow in Valhalla Memory Gardens Mausoleum. Friends may visit the family on Monday from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Day & Deremiah-Frye Funeral Home.
