

Rachel R. Cooper, age 70, of Bloomington, died Saturday at I.U. Health, Bloomington Hospital. Born October 3, 1940 in Summer Shade, Kentucky, she was the daughter of Raymond and Marie (Smith) Walker. She was the part owner along with her husband, Erwin, of Erwin’s Dry Wall Company. She was a member of the Hoosier Classic Car Club of Monroe County, Inc. She loved watching I.U. Basketball, especially when Bob Knight was coaching and tending her beautiful flower gardens. She also enjoyed watching racing events, especially the ones her children and grandchildren were in involved in. She was a very loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was a member of the Northside Christian Church.
She is survived by her husband, Erwin Cooper, of Bloomington; two daughters, Pamela Cooper, of Springville, Indiana and Valarie Humphrey (Jay), of Bloomington; one son, Jeffrey Cooper (Beth), of Spencer; four grandsons, John DeMoss (Heather), Clint DeMoss, Jacob Humphrey and Jay Humphrey; one granddaughter, Vanessa Cooper; four great-grandchildren, Caleb Demoss, Ashlyn DeMoss, Alyssa DeMoss and Lexi DeMoss and two sisters, Naomi Cooke, of Venice, Florida and Janie Shipley (Jerry), of Solsberry. She was preceded in death by her parents, Raymond Walker and Marie (Smith) Walker Duke; two brothers, Reno Walker and John J. Walker and two sisters, Bernice Walker and Kathleen Walden.
The funeral service will be held at 10:30 A.M. Wednesday at Day Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Glen Stidd officiating. Entombment will follow in Valhalla Memory Gardens Mausoleum. Friends may visit the family on Tuesday from 4:00 to 8:00 P.M.
