Richard Wayne Fulford, age 86, of Bloomington passed away Monday morning, April 18, 2022 in the I.U. Health; Bloomington Hospice House. Born October 31, 1935 in Bloomington, he was the son of Sherman E. and Christina M. (Brown) Fulford. Richard attended Washington High School and retired from G.E. in Bloomington after 27 years of service. He had formerly worked for Bennett Stone Quarry and Indiana University. A life-long resident of Monroe County, he loved horses and was a member of the Painted Horse Club. He also loved his family, especially his grandchildren. He was a member of Turning Point Apostolic Church.
Richard is survived by his three daughters; Karen Lynn Fulford, Leah Joy (Jay) Sears, and Sara Jan (John) Arnold, all of Bloomington, one sister, Mary Duncan, of Bloomington; five grandchildren, Samaritan (Heath) Vandeventer, Meshach Obadiah Sears, Hannah Rose (Zach) Rebarchik, Israel Godwin (Addy) Arnold and Eli Arnold and three great-grandchildren, Harlan, Waylon and Gibson Vandeventer.
Richard was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Vernice Gale (Smith) Fulford, whom he married on January 17, 1953, one brother, Herbert Harris and two sisters, Martha Robinson and Maxine Carr.
The funeral service will be held on Friday, April 22 at 11:00 a.m. at the Day & Deremiah-Frye Funeral Home; 4150 E. Third St. Burial will follow in Simpson Chapel Cemetery. Friends may visit the family on Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.
