Richard Leon Higgins was born November 27, 1948 to James (Jim) and Ethel Higgins in Sikeston, Mo. He passed on June 21, 2025 at the age of 76. He left behind his four children, Laura Skeens, Benjamin Higgins, Michelle Gardner and Marvin Brinson from his first marriage to Sonja Higgins (deceased). He married Patricia Higgins and added three step-sons to his family, Mark Miller, David Miller, and Brian Miller. He was able to see twenty six grandchildren and great-grandchildren enter this world, who he loved and spoiled.
He was the 5th of 6th children and shared fond memories of his family and growing up. His brothers and sisters were also a loved and cherished part of his life. He, along with his living sister, Linda Andry, held the families close even after the loss of 2 brothers and 2 sisters, Roger Higgins and James Dewey Higgins, Erma Morris and Stella McWhorter.
Richard was a stubborn and fun-loving man. He leaves behind dozens of good humorous stories between his adventures with his church family (Stoneridge Baptist Church), his biking clubs (American Legion Riders and HOG), and his many vacations in his nearly 25 years of retirement from 30 years of service to GE in Bloomington, Indiana. He served his country in the US Navy during the Vietnam era.
