Richard K. Taylor, age 82, of Bloomington, IN was called home on Sunday, February 13, 2022 surrounded by his loving family at the Hospice House. He was born July 1, 1939 to Richard Taylor and Ethel (Hendricks) Taylor. Richard married the love of his life, Joyce, on February 25, 1961 and they were blessed with three beautiful daughters, seven grandchildren, and ten great-grandchildren.
Throughout the years he served his country as a Sargent E5 USAR and worked at the Herald Times and retired after 47 ½ years. He was a founding member of the Van Buren Township Fire Department in 1970, volunteered, and became a lifetime member. He was also one of the first EMT’s in Bloomington.
He enjoyed working on vehicles, racing, riding his motorcycle with his wife and friends, hunting, fishing, and helping everyone, but his family was his passion.
Richard is survived by his loving wife, Joyce (Collins) Taylor; his 3 daughters, Melonee Bristoe, Stacee Winders, and Jodee Lee (Jim); brother, Ed Taylor (Bobbi); sister, Kathy Weinheimer; brother-in-law Mark Davis; six grandchildren, Joshua Bristoe, Chrissy Chambers (Alex Hahn), Cody Winders, James Lee, Jesse Lee (Rachel), Jake Lee; 10 great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant brother, Donald; sister, Connie Davis; grandson, Jeremiah Bristoe; aunts, uncles, and cousins.
The funeral service will be on Monday, February 21, 2022 at 1:00 p.m. at the Day & Deremiah-Frye Funeral Home, 4150 E. Third Street with Bro. Gary Fiscus officiating. Burial will follow in Valhalla Memory Gardens. Friends may visit the family on Monday from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
