

Richard G. Wirth, age 87, of Bloomington, died Tuesday evening at his residence. Born August 28, 1925 in Chicago, Illinois, he was the son of Carl P. and Hazel (Grossman) Wirth. He retired from Illinois Bell after working at Bell Laboratories. He was a U.S. Army Air Corps Aviation Cadet veteran of W.W. II.
He is survived by his loving wife, Gretchen (Campbell) Wirth, whom he married on May 14, 1950 in Chicago, currently of Bloomington; his two sons and their wives, Ross A. and Kristen, of Pickerington, Ohio and Gary L. and Linda, of Beecher, Illinois; one daughter, Karen J. Young, of Canton, Michigan; three granddaughters, Sara S. (Kevin) Love, of Portland, Oregon, Kristen J. (Kelby)Young Waldrip, of Bloomington and Melissa A. Young, also of Bloomington; one grandson, James M. (Shawnda) Wirth, of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma; one great-granddaughter, Reese E. Wirth, of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma and two great-grandsons, Joshua C. Love, of Portland, Oregon and Robert Ryker Wirth, of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma. He was preceded in death by one sister, Lois Wirth, and five brothers, Bernard C., Herbert R., F. Roy, Harold E. and Robert A. Wirth.
There will be no public services or visitation at this time. The family will be gathering privately to celebrate his life.
Day Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
