

Rodney Duane Shea, age 46, passed away peacefully in his sleep on July 28, 2024, in Bedford, Indiana. Born on February 5th, 1978, Rodney was known for his adventurous spirit and fun-loving nature, always ready to embrace life's next challenge.
A proud veteran, Rodney served in the Army (Rank E-4), where he worked on Kiowa helicopters and cultivated a discipline and camaraderie that he carried throughout his life. His military service was a significant chapter, marked by both the rigors and the bonds formed during his time in uniform.
Rodney's hobbies included flying drones, geocaching, kayaking with his mother and fiancé, working on his brother, Christopher's race car with him and spending cherished moments with his family, which was central to his life. He had a knack for turning ordinary days into memorable adventures, whether navigating the intricate world of geocaching, gliding across the water in a kayak while holding his mother's umbrella, or soaring the skies with his drones. He loved critiquing movies with his fiancé, walking his dog, and watching NASCAR. He became a master of grilling out and bonfires.
He is survived by his mother, Theresa Robertson; brothers, Christopher (Joy) Robertson and David (Carolyn) Shea; his former wife, Teresa Klein; bonus daughter, Neva Atchinson; grandson, Daegon Atchinson; granddaughter, Isla Atchinson; aunt, Denna (Steve) Gray; uncle, Joe (Angie) Robertson; fiancé, Kim Young; and numerous cousins and extended family members. Rodney was preceded in death by his grandparents, Hobart and Jeanette Robertson; uncle, Jeff Robertson; and cousin, Timothy Joe Robertson.
There will be a gathering of family and friends on Monday, August 12, 2024 from 4:00 – 8:00 PM at Day & Deremiah-Frye Funeral Home, 4150 East Third Street. Graveside Services will be held on Tuesday, August 13, 2024 at 10:00 AM in Clover Hill Cemetery in Harrodsburg.
The family is requesting financial contributions to assist with expenses in lieu of flowers. Rodney's adventurous and loving spirit will be deeply missed by all who knew him, leaving behind a legacy of joy and family devotion.
