Rosalie Jane McGuire, age 90, of Spencer, Tennessee, peacefully went to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, September 4, 2024. Rosalie was born on June 2, 1934, in Farmersburg, Indiana to Carrie and Delbert Rhodes. While she spent most of her years at Fairbanks School, her family moved to Prairie Creek when she was a sophomore, and she graduated valedictorian of her class at Prairie Creek High School. She went on to graduate from Oklahoma A & M (now Oklahoma State) in Stillwater, Oklahoma. It was there that she met the love of her life and college sweetheart, Jimmie Lee McGuire. They were married in 1955 and lived in numerous states before settling in Bloomington, Indiana to raise their family. After retirement, they resided in Mesa, AZ, Texarkana, TX and Spencer, TN.
Rosalie was a loving wife and mother. Her faith and her family were the most important things in her life. Daily she strived to make her house a home built around Jesus Christ, full of love and kindness for every member of her family. Some of the highlights of her Christian Life included the time spent at her weekly ladies Bible classes, as well as her many years of service at Spring Mill Bible Camp. She was also a contributing author for Christian Woman Magazine. Rosalie had a remarkable way of making everyone feel special and loved; this was evidenced by the amazing friendships she cultivated everywhere she went.
Rosalie was a tennis and pickleball player, world traveler, and decorated seamstress who was active in 4H in her younger years. She was also an avid reader until her eyesight began to deteriorate. When she could no longer read, she adopted a cat “Jaspurr” to keep her company.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Carrie and Delbert Rhodes, sister-in-law, Katsuko Rhodes, and brother-in-law Billy Gene McGuire.
Survivors include her husband, Jimmie Lee McGuire, brother, John D. Rhodes, children, Brad (Kandy) McGuire of Spencer, TN, Julie (Chuck) Hernandez of Milton, GA and Jeff (Darrah) McGuire of Texarkana, TX. She also leaves behind five grandchildren, Hannah, Haley, Grace, Jake and Jessie.
