Sue was born to James Flynn and Edith Kinser Flynn, July 4, 1944 in Bloomington, Indiana. Any of Sue’s friends could tell you why she is the fire cracker baby!
She was the baby of 23 brothers and sisters. She enjoyed the company of her older sisters who took her on outings and vacations. She loved to travel and be somewhere warm. Sue attended Bloomington High School. She worked at Sarkes Tarzian and RCA. In the 70’s, Sue and her husband Rod Sr., travelled with their son Rod Jr, to attend AMA Motocross races. In the 80’s and 90’s, Sue and Rodney Sr. owned and operated a Sprint car race team with Rod Jr. as driver, running the Sprint car circuit. Rod Sr. raced in the 50’s and 60’s and Sue drove in the Powder Puff races. Sue was also an avid golfer and race fan.
Sue and Rod Sr. owned and operated the Bloomington Par 3 golf course. They also developed and built Hidden Hills Golf Course from an old dairy farm in Greene County Indiana. The entire family put many, many hours into the golf course and even in their years of failing health, Sue and Rod continued to work. After Rod, Sr. passed away, Sue’s partnership in the golf course was soon disappointingly dissolved, leaving little explanation and heartache after being shut out from the course.
Sue will be missed by her son Rodney(wife Jodi)Ritter, Jr., granddaughter Whitni(husband Brenden) Fleener, four sisters; Phyllis(husband Kenny)Treadway, Lena Jones, Sharon Robertson, and Linda Faye Sheffield.
She is also survived by many nieces and nephews and very many special friends.
Sue is preceded in death by her parents, 18 brothers and sisters(!) and her wonderful husband of 49 years, Rodney Lee Ritter, Sr.
Sue was very loved and will never be forgotten.
