Shirley worked at Cook Incorporated as a dietician for 3 years. She received two Associates degrees and Bachelor’s degree from Ivy Tech and was working toward her Master’s degree from Indiana Weslyan.
Shirley was a one of a kind woman. She had a laugh and smile that would light up the world. She loved football Sundays and Thursdays with her brother Kevin McGruder and sister Mary Jane McGruder. She loved to travel and see new things and las t but not least, her grandson J’Kyh was her life. Shirley was the type of person that would do anything for anyone. She was the best mother a daughter could ask for. She was my best friend, she was my everything.
When thinking of her, please do not shed a tear, or she would prefer a party, remember the good memories with my mom for she has returned to her Father, the Lord Jesus Christ.
Her life will live on and be cherished through her mother and also her best friend Cleo McGruder, daughter Cheryl Poindexter, three brothers; Robert McGruder of Vancouver, Canada, Kevin McGruder of Bloomington, IN, Keith York of Bloomington, IN her sister Mary Jane McGruder of Bloomington, IN and many nieces, nephews, uncles, aunts and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her father William Milton McGruder.
