

Thomas Henry Taubensee, 67, of Bloomington, IN, died Saturday. He was born June 30, 1944 in Evanston, IL to the Jack Taubensee and Barbranell Jones Taubensee of Chicago, IL. Tom graduated from New Trier High School in 1962 and received a B.A. in Business from Northern Illinois University in 1968. Tom devoted most of his working years to Motorola where he worked until retiring in 1994. Tom married Alma Bauer of Arlington Heights, IL in 1992, and they settled in Bloomington in 1995. While retired, Tom devoted his life to wildlife establishing a Classified Wildlife Habitat Area on his property, and helped animals survive harsh Indiana winters. Although an Illinois alumnus, Tom was a true Hoosier known for his Indiana-themed playroom and hosting his friends during IU basketball and football games. Tom was an active member of the Sherwood Oaks Christian Church.
Thomas is survived by his mother Barbranell, his wife Alma, his brother Mark Taubensee of Bloomington, IN, and by his sisters: Gaye Taubensee of San Diego, CA, Linda Denney and Kim Ione Taubensee of Phoenix, AZ; by two children: Amy Lynn Campbell of Greenwood, IN and Mark Taubensee, of Rolling Meadows, IL; two stepsons: Paul Bauer of Corona, CA and Steven Bauer of Terre Haute, IN; a grand daughter Samantha Lynn Campbell of Greenwood, IN, and two step grandchildren: Amy and Aron Bauer of Corona, CA. Tom is also survived by a son-in-law Robert Campbell of Greenwood, IN, and daughter-in-law Elizabeth Bauer of Corona, CA.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to The Center for Sustainable Living in Bloomington or to the Indiana University Foundation in loving memory of Tom Taubensee.
Visitation will be held Saturday, October 8th, 2011 at 11 a.m. with memorial service to follow at 12 p.m., at the Day Funeral Home, 4150 East 3rd Street, Bloomington, IN.
