Vera Ellen Cline

Vera Ellen Nickerson Cline, 64, of Bloomington passed away Wednesday, December 29, 2021 in her home with her family at her side. She was born July 14, 1957 in Greencastle to Ronald Wayne Nickerson and Shirley Ann Parker Nickerson. She was a retired Nurse.

Survivors include her daughter, Randi (Matt) Jackson of Gosport; her son, John Bristow of Bloomington; two sisters, Becki (Danny Nees) Patterson of Greencastle and Linda Clingan of Sonora, Kentucky; a brother, Robbie (Helene “Bean”) Nickerson of St. Augustine, Florida; two grandchildren, Avery and Madeline Jackson; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Randy Cline; and a brother, Danny Nickerson.

Vera was a member of Sherwood Oaks Christian Church. She enjoyed spending time with her family, going on trips with her sisters, reading, visiting libraries, going to bible study, going to ladies book club and trying new wines. She was the Chair of the RN Program at Ivy Tech for 14 years. After leaving Ivy Tech, Vera went to St Francis Hospital where she was a nurse educator and worked in Critical Care. Above all else her life revolved around her family and her church.

Vera had been looking forward to being reunited with the love of her life, Randy Cline who was killed in action in Grenada in 1983.

There will be a Private Memorial Service at a later date. Arrangements are under the direction of Day & Deremiah-Frye Funeral Home.
