Vera (Myers) Warner, 94, passed away on October 19, 2011 at Bloomington Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Bloomington. Born August 4, 1917 in Bloomington, Indiana to Raymond and Mildred Myers, Vera was raised in Bloomington and graduated from Bloomington High School. She was married for 50 years to Mason Warner who passed away in 1987. She is predeceased by her son, Fred Warner in 2006. She is survived by her sister, Barbara Gilpatrick of Bloomington, Indiana, son, Jim and his wife Shirley (SAM) of Leominster, Massachusetts as well as four grandchildren, Jim Warner and his wife Beth of Carmel, Indiana, Chuck Warner of Indianapolis, Indiana, Elizabeth Warner, Chad Warner and his wife Emily of Leominster, Massachusetts, five great-grandchildren: Blake, Cameron, Andrew, and Gabrielle Warner, Vivian Warner and numerous nieces and nephews.
Vera lived in Washington since moving there in 1953 from Hammond, Indiana. She was a full time homemaker and excellent cook. When her sons left home after high school, she went to work at the Ralph G. Hastings Insurance Agency in Washington and remained there until she retired. She performed volunteer duties as a Pink Lady at the Daviess County Hospital. She was a long time member of Psi Iota Xi Sorority and the Order of Eastern Star. She was also a member of the Washington Monday Afternoon Club. She enjoyed playing cards and was particularly fond of playing bridge which she did on a regular basis until very recently. She was a member of the Westminster Presbyterian Church.
There will be no calling hours. All are invited to attend the grave side service at Valhalla Cemetery in Bloomington at 11 A.M. on October 26th.
A Psi Iota Xi ceremony will be held at the Westminster Presbyterian Church in Washington at 6:45 P.M. followed by a memorial service at approximately 7 P.M. Refreshments will be served at the church following the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent in Vera’s name to Westminster Presbyterian Church, 110 N. E. 2nd St., Washington, IN 47501.
