

Vincent “Vinny” Gene Payne, 90, of Bloomington passed away on Monday, February 26, 2024 in Stonecroft Health Campus. He was born January 12, 1934 in Waverly, Kentucky to John Hutson Payne and Lilly Maude Davis Payne. He was retired from the Internal Revenue Service.
Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Regina Hollander Payne of Bloomington; two daughters, Lisa (Mike) Payne-Ratliff and Kathy Wicker, both of Bloomington; two sons, David Gene Payne and Timothy Alan Payne both of Bloomington; three grandchildren, Daniel (Sarah) Wicker, Jacob Wicker and Lauren Wicker; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents; a son in law, Ed Wicker; an infant daughter; an infant granddaughter; and 11 siblings.
Vincent was a charter member of St. John’s Catholic Church, an active member of St Charles Borromeo Catholic Church and St Vincent dePaul; he served in the United States Marine Corps during the Korean War; he cherished his time with his children and grandchildren, never missing any of their events; he helped at the area 10 agency on aging; was a wood worker and even owned his own woodworking business; he was a diehard Kentucky Wildcats Basketball fan along with the St Louis Cardinals and I. U. Women’s Basketball; he played many years in the Bloomington Church Softball League for St John’s; he helped with Cub Scouts and was a little league coach. Vincent enjoyed traveling, going several times overseas with his wife and their friends, with the high light being their 50th anniversary European cruise.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, March 1, 2024 at 11:00 AM with Father Tom Kovatch officiating in St Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, 2222 East Third Street, Bloomington. Burial will take place at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Evansville. There will be a time of visitation prior to services on Friday at the church from 10:00 to 11:00 AM. Arrangements are under the direction of Day & Deremiah-Frye Funeral Home.
