Carol "Aunt Sue" Overbeck, aged 74, of Bothell, WA, passed away on December 9, 2024. She was born on February 23, 1950, in Renton, WA, and grew up in Kennydale, WA, alongside her parents, Marie and Chuck, and her brother, Mike. She graduated from Renton High School and went on to attend the University of Washington, where she earned her bachelor’s degree. Sue excelled in school and had a natural curiosity and drive that extended to many areas of her life.
Sue was known for her dry wit and sharp sense of humor, often accompanied by a mischievous smirk. She had a deep love for her family, friends, pets, and the arts, always finding beauty and meaning in the world around her. Whether it was her love for cooking, reading, fiber crafts, beadwork, collecting dishes, or spending time with her beloved dog Fred, Sue enjoyed life to its fullest. She had a special fondness for yard sales, where she loved hunting for treasures. She was also an avid traveler, enjoying road trips to the Southwest of the U.S. with Greg and even traveling to England, cherishing these adventures together.
Sue shared 29 wonderful years with her long-time partner, Greg Kooser, and their time together was filled with love and appreciation.
Sue was deeply devoted to her nieces and nephews—Andy, Katie, Dawn, Ella, Bryce, Jessie, Henry, Andrea, Curtis, Alayna, and Lauren. She spoiled them all with love, generosity, and memorable outings. Sue was also very close to her father-in-law, Phil Kooser, and they shared a special bond.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Marie and Chuck; her brother, Mike, sister-in-law, Marty; and her father-in-law, Phil Kooser. She is survived by her long-time partner, Greg, and her extended family, who will miss her dearly.
As requested by Sue, there will not be a funeral service. A private celebration of life will be held, attended by her family. In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to be sent to a local pet rescue, a cause Sue deeply cared about due to her love of dogs.
Sue’s memory will live on in all of us who were lucky enough to be loved by her. We are forever grateful for her inspiration, her kindness, and her remarkable perspective on life.
