

Donn Mills, 83, passed away peacefully on May 14, 2025, in Snohomish,Washington. A devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, Donn lived a life marked by service, integrity, and warmth.
Born on April 5, 1942, in Pateros, Washington, Donn grew up surrounded by the natural beauty of the Methow Valley—a landscape that would inspire his lifelong love of fly fishing and gardening. His early years instilled in him a deep appreciation for nature and a strong sense of duty that would guide him throughout his life.
Donn proudly served his country in the United States Navy before embarking on a distinguished 32-year career with the Seattle Police Department. His dedication to public service was matched by his unwavering honesty and kindness—qualities that earned him the respect of colleagues and community members alike. Whether patrolling city streets or mentoring younger officers, Donn brought compassion and fairness to every aspect of his work.
At the heart of Donn's life was his beloved wife of 57 years, Joyce Mills. Together they built a home filled with love. He was a proud father to Mike Mills and his partner DanielleLeMier, and to Aimee Mills and her husband Rod Dohner. His legacy continues through his grandchildren Tobi Mills and Cassie Blair, as well as two great-grandchildren who brought him great joy.
Donn found solace and joy in simple pleasures. An avid fly fisherman and skilled fly tier, he spent countless hours along rivers casting lines with patience and precision. His garden bloomed with vibrant irises and roses—flowers he tended with care and pride. In the kitchen, he was known for baking delicious pies that became family favorites during holidays and gatherings.
He was preceded in death by his father Lawrence Mills, mother Audrea Mills, and brother Ron Mills. Their memories remained close to his heart throughout his life. Those who knew Donn will remember him as kind-hearted, honest to a fault, and always ready with a warm smile or helping hand. His outgoing nature made him a friend to many and a steady presence in the lives of those around him. May his memory bring comfort to all who knew him.
