
Barbara (Bobbi) McKevitt, of Boulder, Colorado passed away in her home, on December 18, 2014, after a long illness. She was born on March 27, 1942 in Hartford, Connecticut to Katherine and Howard Bowers. She was the oldest of six sisters. She served the mentally ill and chemically dependent in many capacities over the years of her career as a registered nurse and a Certified Addictions Counselor. She also worked for 15 years as a Confidential Intermediary for the courts in Colorado, reuniting birth families and adopted adults.
Bobbi was a Master Gardener, an incredible cook and an avid birder who adored the Western Slope. She also loved reading, going to the movies and visiting with friends. She had a wonderful sense of humor and infectious laugh, and was a very engaging conversationalist and a great listener, When younger, she enjoyed skiing, hiking and camping, and even rafted down the Colorado River through the Grand Canyon in 1989. She was a very loyal and trustworthy friend as well as a greatly loved mother and grandmother. Bobbi faced her illness with courage, humor and perseverance. In this, she has set an example for us all.
She is survived by her children, Kelly Wilson and Michael McKevitt; “daughter in love’ Angie McKevitt; grandchildren Zachary McKevitt, Jillian McKevitt and Lane Wilson; and sisters Lorraine Bedus, Susan Bowers, Kathy Curran, Mary Lynne Bowers and Patty Forest.
A private memorial was held on Dec. 21, 2014. Public celebrations will be held at 4:00 pm on June 6, 2015 at the home of Mike and Angie McKevitt in Broomfield, CO and a second celebration at 4:00 pm on June 8, 2015 at the Stolte Shed in Cedaredge, CO.
