He was a loyal, kind, and fair man - a devoted husband, father, and dear friend who will be remembered for his steadfast presence, his warmth, and his sense of humor.
Born in Faribault, Minnesota, his family moved to Boulder, Colorado, where his parents purchased the Boulder Bakery on Pearl Street when Bruce was 12 years old. It was a traditional family-owned business that shaped a strong work ethic, a deep appreciation for family, and a love of simple, meaningful things in life.
He began his career as a Design Technician before becoming a Mechanical Engineer in the early years of the disc drive industry, where his ingenuity and precision earned him several patents - a testament to his analytical mind and his dedication to his craft.
Even as a young man, Bruce possessed a rare spirit of adventure. As a teenager, he and his brother lived in an Ashram in India. He traveled solo through Europe by rail to Turkey - getting stuck behind a border during wartime - gathering stories and experiences that stayed with him throughout his life. That same curiosity never left him. He was an avid student of world history and archaeology, a pastime he enjoyed deeply.
At home, Bruce loved cooking and listening to music - especially his old albums - and anything that brought the family together. He valued deep conversation, and the many family road trips he organized became cherished memories that lasted a lifetime.
He had a gift for making people feel at ease. Quick with a joke and seemingly always knowing exactly what to say, his warm presence made others feel comfortable and accepted for who they were. His home was always open to family, friends, and even strangers who quickly became welcome guests. There was always an open seat at his table, and anyone who came by was offered a hot plate of food and treated with genuine kindness.
One of his greatest joys in recent years was becoming a grandfather. He had just begun building a beautiful relationship with his grandson, Joseph, and he was deeply proud of that connection.
He Is Survived By His wife, Judy Oxley His children, David and Rachel His son-in-law, Shane His grandson, Joseph His brother, Randy Oxley.
He will be remembered for his appreciation of life, his warmth, his sense of humor, and especially all the love he gave to his family. Many people go through life wondering if they made a difference. Bruce never had to worry about that.
