Carol Jean Hersey passed away on August 6, 2011 at her home in Niwot. She was 70 years old. Carol was born on December 11, 1940 in Rock Island, IL to Samuel Parnell and Dorothy Elizabeth (Harker) Durr.
Carol retired from Leanin’ Tree. She was a member of the Niwot Book Club and loved dogs so much that she ran her neighborhood ‘s Doggy Day-Care. Carol enjoyed music as well as spending time with her family, friends, and neighbors.
Carol is survived by her children Letitia (Calvin) Abila and Jeffrey (Melissa) Hersey of Louisville as well as Lori (Terry) Cummins of Fallbrook, CA; grandchildren Shawn, Brianna, Tyler, Correll, Kelsey, Michaelene, Erin, Katie Rose, and Jeffrey; brothers Sam and Mike Durr and sisters Patsy Watts and Mary Gold. She was preceded in death by her sister, Pam Durr.
Visitation will be held from 5:00-7:00 PM on Friday, August 12, 2011 at Crist Mortuary. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, August 13, 2011 at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church with a reception immediately following the Mass, also at Sacred Heart of Jesus.
