Claire Louise Mathews

Claire's brother (two years younger), her mother, father, and aunt lived together. Claire's mother died in 1941, shortly after her grandmother’s death. Claire and her brother were then raised by her Aunt Evelyn La Torra who passed away in 1963. Claire’s father passed away in 1977.

Claire attended University Hill School, Boulder High, and the University of Colorado.

In 1955 she married Charles (Chic) Sayre. They adopted three children - Casey, Steve, and Leslie. Claire and Chic divorced in 1977. Claire married Ronald (Doc) Mathews in 1979.

Claire worked at Rocky Flats for 25+ years, the Boulder Rural Fire Department and was a volunteer at the Boulder Police Department.

Claire is predeceased by Charles, Ronald, her brother Cliff Chittim, and grandsons Dante, Leonardo and Satchel Sayre.

A service will be held at Sacred Heart of Mary Church, 6739 S. Boulder Rd., Boulder, CO on April 13, at 10:30 a.m. with a reception immediately following. Visit CristMortuary.com to share memories and condolences.
