

Coral was born in Boulder to David A. and Mary R. Meier (McDaniel) on April 1, 1940. She was one of three children and grew up in Boulder, graduating from Boulder High School in 1958. Coral met and married Donald Yakel on September 12, 1959 at First Lutheran Church in Longmont. Coral and Don welcomed three children into the world.
Coral worked throughout her life in various positions, starting at Astes Drive-in as a cook. She then worked for the National Bureau Standards, Maxine's XL shop, LaBelles (Best Products), and finished her career working for the Boulder Valley School District until 1998.
In the early years, Coral enjoyed gardening, reading, ceramics, sewing, crocheting, and needlepoint. In addition, she was a caretaker for her mother for 17 years.
Coral and Don were members of Family Campers and RVers of America; taking on the position of the Northern Colorado Directors, along with being Field Directors of two of their chapters. They enjoyed traveling to the various rallies with FCRV.
Coral was preceded in death by her infant son Brian Eugene, her parents David and Mary Meier, her sister Barbara Paull, and brother David Otis Meier. She is survived by husband of almost 64 years, Donald, daughter Kay (Doug) Fay, daughter Mary (Don) Harris, grandchildren Lisa (Troy), Brian (Kate), Jewelanne, Britni, and Michael. Nine great grandchildren, Grace, David, Brooklyn, Lily, Mason, Madison, Baylee, Cillian, and Lily. Also numerous nieces and nephews.
Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held at Crist Mortuary in Boulder. In lieu of flowers, please consider making donations to the American Cancer Society.
