
Donald received his master’s degree and was employed as an engineer at Ball Aerospace and was a professor at Metropolitan College. Donald spent 9 years on active duty in the Air Force and 18 years in the U.S. Army National Guard. He enjoyed spending time playing with his grandchildren. He was an avid reader, enjoyed music and watching sports.
Donald was a man of high integrity, a caring and loving person, a wonderful pop pop to his grandchildren, a wonderful and loving husband and father. He was the best friend ever!
Donald was married to Charlene Dentici on November 23, 1984 in Boulder, Colorado.
Survivors include his spouse Charlene, his daughters Reyné Harrison (Edward), Karen Willey (Scott), Colleen Kulp (Kevin), his sons Rusty Long (Linda), Alan Long (Missy) and David Long (Donna), his grandchildren Andrew and Lauren Harrison, Kori and Kyle Kulp, Carolyn Kelsey, Heather Willey, Jessica and Matthew, Ray, Ashleigh and Cameron Long and Tamara Nickolai, great grandchildren Cheyenne, Taylor and Alexander Willey, his sister Katherine Bell and brother Frank Long, his sister in law Jayne Gratzmiller, many nieces and nephews and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers.
Visitation will be on Wednesday June 9, 2010, 4-8 p.m. at Crist Mortuary, 3395 Penrose Place, Boulder. Services will be held on Thursday June 10, 2010, 10:30 a.m. at Divine Savior Lutheran Church, 7070 N. 83rd St., Niwot, CO. Officiating will be Pastor Bruce Russell. Interment will be held at 2:30 pm Ft. Logan National Cemetery, Staging Area B. Contributions can be made to Divine Lutheran Church. Arrangements under the direction of Crist Mortuary, Boulder, CO.
