Illinois native and Marine Corp World War II veteran Gordon Ian McPherson (Gordy) passed away June 4, 2016. After attending New Trier High School, Gordy served in the Pacific during the war for 3 years. On his return to the States he enjoyed a long career as an Office Supply Salesman around Chicago and the Midwest. In 1949, he married Helen Wright in Glencoe, Illinois. They then lived in Northbrook, Illinois until 1994 when they retired first to Fort Collins, Colorado and finally to Boulder. Gordy and Helen were among the charter members of the Methodist Church in Northbrook.
Gordy is survived by his wife Helen, sister Ellen McPherson and 3 children - daughter Jeannie Barry, Gordon Jr and Andrew as well as 5 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews, in-laws and friends.
Gordy enjoyed life which included golf, travelling (especially by car), his family and meeting new people. His Scottish heritage was extremely important to him. He was an inspiration to many, much loved and will be missed by all who knew him.
