graduated to heaven in the wee hours of the morning of the 20th of April, 2022 at the
age of 84.
She was born to Ignacio and Rosaura Mendez on December 4, 1937. The family
moved from Puerto Rico to New York due to an illness of their father’s, and after their
father passed away, they lived in New York city, where after graduating high school she
met our father. Our father called her mother to ask if he could take our mother out on a
date, and my mother never expected her mother to say yes, but she did. Well, within a
few short months, they were married! Together they had four children: Shari, Timothy,
Eric and Andrig. Of course, they have lots of grandchildren and great grandchildren,
and numerous adopted children, grandchildren and great grandchildren!
Igna was a vibrant, energetic, and strong woman who cared for people. We always had
someone staying in our house growing up, whether it was the missionary that needed a
temporary place to stay, whether it was someone in need that she met that day that we
didn’t know at all, whether is was opening our home to a foster child, or a friend in need,
she was always there to help. She was also a woman of prayer.
Igna prayed for everyone and everything, and she let those people know that she was
doing it, and I know that we all appreciated her prayers, and those prayers were
answered by our Lord and Savior on a regular basis. We will all miss her deeply.
A graveside service for Igna will be held Thursday, May 5, 2022 at 10:00 AM at Ft. Logan National Cemetery, 4400 W. Kenyon Ave., Denver, CO 80236.
A memorial service will be held in her honor at 4:00 pm, May 5th, 2022 at Calvary Bible
Free Evangelical Church in Boulder, Colorado. In lieu of flowers, please donate to Built
