He grew up in Sandy Hook, CT and earned a B.A. from the University of Bridgeport, Bridgeport, CT. Jim worked in the paperboard packaging industry all of his professional life. He started with Curtis Packaging in Sandy Hook and worked in a number of packaging companies in various executive roles, including President, Vice President of Sales and Vice President of Operations. He retired in 2014 after having run his own consulting and brokering company for fifteen years. Jim loved an active lifestyle and Colorado fit him beautifully. He won his age group in the Bolder Boulder for several consecutive years, completed the Ride the Rockies in 2005 and was an avid skier. Golf, hiking, biking, skiing (downhill and cross-country) and running were favorite pastimes. Travel was another love and he and Susan enjoyed seven biking vacations in Europe and Australia/New Zealand, in addition to many other traveling adventures. Family was most important to Jim. He is survived by his wife Susan; children Pam (John), Chris (Peter), James, Todd (Tamar), and Jen; eight beautiful grandchildren; and, brother Jeff. His parents, son Scott, and infant grandson predeceased him. Jim believed in giving back to the community and volunteered for the American Red Cross of Boulder and Broomfield counties, Sister Carmen in Lafayette, and Community Food Share. The family is grateful for the care and support provided by TRU Hospice Community Care of Lafayette during Jim's short illness. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Jim's name to one of these valued community organizations. A celebration of Jim's life will be held at The Wedgewood of Boulder Creek (formerly The Red Lion Inn), 38470 Boulder Canyon Drive, Boulder, CO 80302 on Sunday, May 15 at 11 a.m. MDT.
