Jerome Yale Rosenholtz (Yoel Ben Gershon v’Charna), affectionately known as Jerry, passed away on June 20th in Boulder, CO at the age of 91. He was a grand adventurer and lived a life driven by his love for family. Born on August 29th, 1932, to Gershon and Charna Rosenholtz, Jerry was the youngest of seven siblings, the first Rosenholtz to be born in America, and the only sibling to attend college, earning his law degree from DePaul University.
He became a real estate lawyer, practicing law and real estate development and was particularly proud of his contributions to the development of Water Tower Place in Chicago and The Woodlands in Texas. He was a man ahead of his time, championing the women in his life and maintaining an ethical approach in business and his personal life.
In 1956, Jerry married his best friend, Libbie Gorman. They shared almost 68 incredible years together, building a life of adventure and family love. He was a remarkable game player and a winner to the end, with a corny sense of humor that brought joy and eye rolls to many. His interests were vast, including painting, photography, travel, and a love for sports such as golf, softball, and running. Jerry had an enduring appreciation for nature and was an avid hiker and skier.
Jerry will be sorely missed by his wife Libbie, daughters Charna and Justin (Paul); grandchildren Jason (Ali), Amanda (Jeremy), Amy (Jessie), and Nicole; and great-grandchildren Sadie Rose, Leo, and Lilliana, the latter who came into this world just as he left it. Jerry is predeceased in death by his parents, siblings, nieces and nephews gone too soon, and a beloved friend group from childhood that lasted until their deaths.
A memorial service will be held on July 28th at 4 PM MDT at the following Zoom link: https://us02web.zoom.us/j/3036137777?pwd=iyYH5my5W3XcwJhTOGEFgatW5srl2f.1&omn=87969412332#success. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Les Turner ALS Foundation in honor of his sister, Eve.
He will be forever remembered as a kind, humorous, and adventurous soul who touched the lives of many.
