Jesse Bernard Meyer II

Jesse Bernard “Bernie” Meyer passed away on December 19, 2025, just days shy of his 78th birthday. A longtime resident of Nederland, Colorado, Bernie made the mountains his home for more than 40 years, where he lived a life rooted in craftsmanship, nature, and quiet dedication to those he loved.

Bernie was preceded in death by his father, Jesse Bernard Meyer; his mother, Mildred Meyer; and his brother, Rick Meyer. He is survived by his sister, Elizabeth Joan Huddleson.

Bernie shared a loving partnership with Judy Shinbur for more than 28 years, whose family became an important part of his life.

He is survived by his daughter, Kelly Huffman, and her husband, Kevin Huffman, along with their five children, their spouses and two grandchildren; his son, Wayne Meyer, and his wife, Juli Meyer, along with two stepchildren and seven step-grandchildren; and his daughter, Heidi Burroughs, and her husband, Christopher Burroughs, along with their two children and one grandchild. He is also survived by his stepchildren through his partner, Judy Shinbur: his stepson, Scott Shinbur; his stepdaughter, Michelle Scott, and her husband, Andy Scott, along with their four children; his stepson, Greg Shinbur-Copley, and his husband, Chris Shinbur-Copley, along with their two children and three grandchildren; and his stepdaughter, Kelly Shinbur, along with her three children.

Bernie was the former owner and operator of ABC Auto Body of Boulder for more than 40 years. He was an avid collector of vintage cars, a devoted lover of nature, and enjoyed game hunting and woodworking.

Bernie was a quiet man who never needed to be the center of attention. He showed his love through consistency and generosity, often opening his home to family and friends. He took pride in sharing the things he cared about most, including his time, his work, and the outdoors. Those who knew him felt his presence not through words, but through the steady way he showed up for the people in his life.

A celebration of Bernie’s life will be held at 12 Noon -3:00 PM on Friday, January 23, 2026 at Crist Mortuary, 3395 Penrose Place, Boulder, CO 80301.
