

Joan Patricia was born April 3, 1935 in Denver, CO and passed away March 16, 2025 in Louisville, CO. Joan was the youngest of three daughters born to Edith Parry (Jones) and John Patrick McCormack. She grew up on a farm near Agate, CO. After high school she graduated from Central Business College in Denver, moving to Boulder, CO in 1954, and continuing her education through night courses. Joan married Glenn McLean on June 21, 1963 at First United Methodist Church in Boulder. She had a long and interesting career as an Executive Secretary/Assistant beginning at Carlson Frink & Co., the University of Colorado, and then Dow Chemical, Rockwell International, and EG&G, all at Rocky Flats where Glenn also worked. She retired in 1991.
Always ready with a smile Joan loved and treasured life – her faith, husband, family friends, church and home. She had many interests – especially reading, sewing, needlework, bowling, golf, travel and sporting events. She was active in several church and civic organizations over the years and in retirement. Glenn and Joan moved from their long-time Boulder home to an apartment at the Balfour Retirement Community in Louisville in 2018.
Joan was preceded in death by her parents, husband Glenn, sister Catherine Anglen, and stepson Michael (Sandra) McLean. She is survived by sister Morva Hewitt, stepdaughter Debra (Dennis) Drew, grandsons Jeffery (Maria) McLean, Michael (Heather) Drew, and Jeffrey (Danica) Drew, great grandchildren Madison McLean, Alexia Knittel, Dexter Drew, Jaiden Drew, and Darius Drew, as well as many other nieces, nephews and the wonderful extended family she dearly loved.
The family will conduct a private inurnment ceremony at Mountain View Memorial Park in Boulder. A memorial service will follow at 11:00 on May 17, 2025 at Crist Mortuary in Boulder, CO. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church, Dignity Hospice of Thornton, CO, or a charity of choice.
