John Abbott Coupin was the much anticipated and intensely loved first son of Melissa and Paul Coupin. Born on October 17, 1992 in Berkeley, California, he spent his entire youth in Orinda, California. John was a larger than life personality from the very start, but will also be remembered for his gentle and sensitive heart. He loved skiing, wakeboarding/wakesurfing, hiking, bicycling and spending time outdoors, particularly at his family’s vacation homes.
He was always up for an adventure and was an enthusiastic international traveler from the time he was little. Starting at a young age, he made a lot of friends in the community via youth sports where he swam, played basketball, soccer, baseball, football and lacrosse. In high school he had narrowed his sports down to baseball and football, adding lacrosse on a whim at the end of his senior year. He attended the University of Montana for a short while and had most recently settled in Boulder, CO where he worked and attended community college for the past two years.
He was a sports fan and an animal lover, a hard working co-worker and loyal friend. He was a champion of the young, the old and the less fortunate. He was funny and fun loving. Smarter than he let on. Handsome and heroic. His brother Matt and his parents join a tremendous number of people who will miss him every day and remember him with love.
The community is welcome to attend John’s Celebration of Life, Sunday, December 21st, 2014 at 2:00 PM at The Lafayette-Orinda Presbyterian Church, 49 Knox Drive, Lafayette, CA.
