April, 1955 to August, 2024
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the sudden passing of Jon Richard Gifford due to a pulmonary embolism. Born in New Hampshire in 1955 to Richard Gifford and Irma (Levesque) Gifford, Jon lived in Laconia and Littleton, New Hampshire during his youth. In 1974, he set out across Canada, down the Pacific Coast and was heading back East when he ran out of funds in Colorado. He found a job here and began his career working in all facets of construction, honing his skills until he was a master craftsman and general contractor. He spent 30 of the 50 years in his career with Kenney Bros. Construction where his work ethic, attention to detail and wide-ranging talents were greatly valued. The Colorado lifestyle suited Jon and he enjoyed many adventures skiing, hiking, four-wheeling, biking, river rafting and just enjoying this beautiful state. He was meticulous in his work, loved the great outdoors, music and sports, was a creative and talented artist, a loving and attentive family man, and a kind and gentle soul who was also an extrovert with a great sense of humor. He touched many lives and will be greatly missed.
Jon and Rhonda (Kenney) Gifford married in August of 1992, and the two of them were thereafter inseparable, raising a family and working together. Jon was a wonderful father to his 3 sons, Zachary (Kelly), Kyle (Madison) and Trevor. He also adored his 2 grandsons (Carsen and Lucas) and granddaughter (Ella). Jon was preceded in death by both of his parents. He is survived by his wife, children, grandchildren, his beloved dog, Murphy, his father in law Allen and mother in law Mary Kenney, his stepmother Doris Gifford, and his 3 siblings and their families: Elaine van der Stok (Ford), Stephen Gifford (Kathy), and Amy Gifford.
A celebration of Jon’s life will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Sunday, August 25th at 788 Columbia Place, Boulder, CO. The event will be held outside on grass, so if attending please dress comfortably.
