Alan Hess, born Leslie Alan Hesselgesser in Freeport, PA on May 16, 1938, passed away peacefully on May 13, 2015. He grew up in Kansas and Connecticut, attending Darien High School in Darien, CT and Allegheny College in Meadville, PA. He served in the US Army,10th Airborne Division, in the late 1950s. He and his wife of 43 years, Jean (nee Minarik), lived in Chicago and Indianapolis before settling in Spring, TX in 1980. He proudly considered himself an almost native Texan. He moved to Boulder, CO in 2012 to be closer to his children and grandchildren. He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, John and Seema; his daughter, Leslie; and his four grandchildren, Olivia, Iain, Simon, and Lena. Alan will be remembered for his affable nature, his generosity, and his love of a good martini.
