Luverne Dean Beezley, affectionately known as “Vern,” passed away peacefully on May 7, 2026, at the age of 93. He knew Jesus Christ as his personal Lord and Savior & lived with the assurance of eternal life which provided comfort, strength and peace.
Vern was born on October 6, 1932, in Chadron, Nebraska to a hardworking farming family. He grew up primarily in the Hamlet and Wauneta, Nebraska areas alongside his brothers, Ray and Lloyd Beezley, and his twin sister, Lois Zimmerman. He graduated from Wauneta High School in 1950, carrying with him the strong values of rural Nebraska life: hard work, humility, perseverance, and devotion to family.
Following high school, Vern proudly served the country he loved by serving in the United States Army during the Korean conflict. His military service reflected the same quiet sense of duty, commitment, and responsibility that would define the rest of his life.
In 1956, Vern married the love of his life, Shirley Ann Lambert, his “Sweety.” They built a life together for nearly seventy years centered on a shared faith in their Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, dedication to one another, and family. They would have celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary on July 22, 2026.
A skilled glazier by trade, Vern built his career through determination and craftsmanship. In 1965, he founded Hillcrest Glass in Boulder, Colorado. Through hard work and integrity, the business grew to include a second location in Longmont, Colorado which endures today under successive ownership — a lasting testament to Vern’s entrepreneurial spirit, incredible work ethic, and the strong foundation he created.
Vern was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and businessman. He belonged to a generation that believed in keeping your word, working hard, and providing for your family. He quietly led by example and earned the respect of those who knew him through his character, dependability, and kindness.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Shirley Ann Beezley of Broomfield; his daughters Debbie Otte of Overland Park, Kansas and Jackie Temby of Bloomington, Illinois, and his son Don Beezley of Broomfield, Colorado. He had eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Vern was a person of tremendous principle and integrity. His legacy lives on through his family and through the values he instilled in those around him: integrity, perseverance, loyalty, and love of family.
A private graveside ceremony will be held May 28th, 2026 at Mountain View Memorial Park in Boulder, CO, followed by a Celebration of Life open to all on Friday, May 29th at 10:00am at The Grand Assisted Living Facility at 1450 W. 169th Ave, Broomfield, CO.
He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew him.
