On October 19, 2021 Marion Manchester Skudler, 91, peacefully ended her earthly journey.
Marion was born in New Bedford, Massachusetts on August 9, 1930 to Orin Gifford Manchester and Ruth Ann Slocum Manchester. She met her husband-to-be Joe Jim Skudler in 1952, while skating at the Lincoln Park Roller Rink in North Dartmouth, Massachusetts. Joe grew up on the family farm in Nebraska and was a radioman in the Navy. Marion and Joe were married on November 7, 1953 in New Bedford. After their three children were born they moved to Boulder, Colorado in 1959 where Joe was an electronics technician at the National Bureau of Standards until his retirement in 1988, and Marion was a Project Planner at Ball Aerospace until her retirement.
After many moves to many homes in Boulder, Louisville, and Berthoud, the couple settled in Longmont in 1992 near family. They were both members of New Creation Church in Longmont and enjoyed many years of fellowship there until health conditions prevented them from attending. Marion enjoyed bowling, playing the organ, vacations with her family, and regular car trips to Las Vegas, Central City, and Blackhawk to play poker (very low-stakes).
Marion is survived by her brother James “Jimmy” Manchester, her daughters, Debra (Gary) Nichols of Longmont, Susan George of Longmont, and her son, Steven (Sharon Myrah) Skudler of Fort Collins. Marion’s grandchildren are Brooke (Jason) Walker of Mead, Whitney (Jesus) Hidalgo of Thornton, and Quinten Nichols of Longmont, and 8 great grandchildren, Jack Walker, and Vanessa, Marissa, Marcus, Lenaya, Alyssa, Manuel, and Ezekiel Hidalgo.
Marion was preceded in death by her husband Joe Skudler, her parents, her sister Hilda Leep and her sister Dorothy “Dottie” Crump Mello who passed away six days earlier on October 14, 2021.
Visitation will be on October 28, 2021, from 11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. at Crist Mortuary, 3395 Penrose Place, Boulder, Colorado 80301. Burial to follow at Green Mountain Cemetery in Boulder at 1:30 p.m.
