

Martha was born in Hemingford NE on November 30, 1925 to Raymond and Edna Westlake the 10th child in the family. She lived in Nebraska except for a short time when the family moved to Wyoming. She was preceded in death by her mother, father, husband and 9 brothers and sisters. When she was 16 her mother died and she moved to Golden to live with her brother and then later to stay at the Nazarene parsonage with the pastor and wife. She then moved to Boulder to live with her sister Thelma and husband Fred and their daughters Carolyn and Janet.
During the war she worked at Remington Arms and had to ride the bus to work for an hour each way. Later she worked at JC Penney’s in Boulder and even had the privilege to meet Mr. Penney. Forest and his brothers owned a lumber yard next to Thelma’s house. After meeting, Forest and Martha started dating and later were married on May 8, 1948 at Denver 1st Church of the Nazarene. Forest owned a house at 518 Dewey Ave and they moved in as newlyweds. She lived there until February this year.
They had one daughter, Connie. In June of 1970 she married Chad. They had 3 sons, David, Dan, and Tim. Martha spent as much time with them as possible. Dan and Chandra were married on July 8, 1995 and David and Debbie were married the next day on July 9. Tim and Nancy were married on July 30, 2005. She always remarked that they were blessed with wonderful wives. She had 10 great-grandchildren, Belle, Danny, Kielynn, Elise, Jonathan, Chris, Ryan, Forest, Hunter and Abagail. She loved her family, and was happiest when she was spending time with them.
She was a member of Boulder 1st Church of the Nazarene and later South Broadway Church of the Nazarene. She worked in the children’s ministry for 30 years. She always loved children. She worked as Secretary of the lab and Boulder Community Hospital for 24 years. After she retired she did daycare in her home.
She was diagnosed with inflammatory breast cancer in 2006 and went through surgery and many treatments. In February she broke her back due to the cancer and arthritis and was admitted to Boulder Community Hospital where they performed surgery to stabilize her back. After her release she went to stay at Life Care Center in Longmont. She stayed there until November 18 when she went to be with the Lord in heaven.
