Matthew Gregory Johnson

Matthew Gregory Johnson of Lafayette, CO unexpectedly passed away on July 13, 2024 at the age of 48. Matthew was born October 30, 1975 in Alexandria, MN to Gregory Johnson and Victoria (Kuehl) Johnson-Mullen.

Matthew graduated from Jefferson Senior High School, Alexandria, MN in 1994. In 2000, he graduated with honors from Alexandria Technical College with an AAS degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology.

In 2000, he married Tiffany (Lindquist) Johnson of Alexandria, MN, and they moved to Broomfield, CO in 2001. He was hired by Valley Lab, which today is named Medtronic as an Engineering Technician. He was well respected in his field; known as a hard worker, generous, and very capable. In, 2007 he moved to Lafayette, CO where he lived until his untimely death.

Matt loved anything outdoors; golf, hiking, kayaking, fishing, biking, snowboarding, and hockey. He was an exceptional oil painter, creating stunning landscapes of all kinds. He was a talented craftsman and handyman; he could do and fix anything.

He loved Minnesota summers; out on the lake or river, fishing, swimming and diving, games and cards, bonfires, and most of all spending time with his nieces whom he adored. He loved to laugh and just be goofy, and joke around usually at his big sister’s expense, he loved big with a kind heart.

Matthew is survived by: his sister, Jennifer (Kevin) Guenther; nieces Lola Guenther, Danika (Scott) Fischer; great niece Charlie Fischer, great nephew Ollie Fischer; father Gregory (Beth) Johnson; step-father Kevin Mullen; grandmother Evangeline Kuehl; many aunts, uncles, cousins, and dear friends.

He is preceded in death by: his mother, Victoria (Kuehl) Johnson-Mullen; grandparents Carl and Agnes Johnson; Grandfather Otis Kuehl; great grandparents Charlie and Sigrid Kuehl; and special fur family, Lillian, Capella, and Jacque.

Celebrations of Life will be held August 16th, 2024 at 3pm at Crist Mortuary in Boulder, CO and August 31st, 2024 at 2pm at Kensington Rune Stone Park, Kensington, MN.
