Pat always called me on my birthday. Sang me when the red red Robin comes a bob bob bobbing along.. last year.Always laughing. Always in a good mood with a story or two. This year called me on mother's day. The Craven family and my family go way way back. My condolences to all of you. I will never forget Pat! May he rest peacefully now.

Packy was indeed a caring soul. This year in may on my birthday I was surprised by a voice message from packy saying Happy Birthdsy George I love you ... Your friend Packy..... I then remembered him asking for my birthday when I did some tile work for him... it was a tradition of his to write everyone’s birthdays down on a calendar and I guess call them on their birthday a simply sweet kind gesture I will always remember.... thanks buddy!!

Packy was/is truly memorable. I got to know him when he lived in Jamestown. His generosity was exceptional.including always having a stash of biscuits in his pocket for the dogs. He will be missed

Patrick Craven (Packy) was a great friend, one of the most loyal, genuine, and helpful people that I have known. Over the seven or so years of our friendship I've come to realize that few people will put out more for others and be a genuine friend even when he was going through though times himself.
Packy would not want us to mourn but instead rejoice in a well lived, blue collar, independent life.

I felt a deep, deep ache in my heart when I heard that my "Packy" had died. REALLY died. Not just another accident, or trip to the hospital. No more phone calls to say "just checkin' in", no more reports from friends and neighbors of 'the latest..'. no more conversations starting with his " You know I love you, I really, really do.."
It's a week later, and that ache is still there. Part of that ache has been there for a long time, ever since I, like most of those who knew him, fell in love with the handsome, outgoing, slightly wacky, and almost always impaired, big bear. It's the pain of loving and losing the beautiful soul of a man whose full potential was never realized. All of those of us who chose to stay in Pat's inner circle couldn't help but love the man whose favorite motto was "Buy the Whole Package, get to the sunny side of the street, and HAVE A ZIPPITY DOO DA DAY".
We laughed with him, we cried with him, we were frustrated and angered by him. But we couldn't help but love him. Packy was kind, Packy was loving to all, Packy was oh so stubborn and independent, while at the same time terribly sensitive and dependent on the people around him loving and respecting him.
Packy gathered friends that came in all shapes, ages, and sizes, and all those friends got to know each other and soon became not only part of Packy's fan club, but his support group and several of them went as far as trying to save him. But Packy wouldn't-couldn't- be saved.
Most importantly, I send my love to the Craven family. It is you that are suffering the most right now. You have been the 'silent actors' who have had to watch your son, your brother, your uncle, oh so slowly and agonizingly succumb to this dreadful disease. Thank you for everything you have had to do-and NOT do-to keep Pat alive for us through the years. I'm sure you've had your hearts broken many, many times. We mourn for you as well as Pat. May you find peace in the good memories as you review your life together.
